Brown Bag Lunch with Debbie Bowman Shea
12:00 PM
Butte Archives
The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives will continue its Brown Bag Lunch series on Wednesday, December 11, with a presentation by Debbie Bowman Shea. She was born and raised in Butte, the second of five daughters to Richard and Enda Healy Bowman. She received a B.S. in Education from Eastern Montana College and a M.Ed. from the University of Montana. She taught school for twenty-six years and served eleven years in the Montana Legislature, as both Representative and Senator.

Sheas’ natural curiosity coupled with her passion for history led her to a twenty-year search for her father’s birth family. In that search, her world opened to avenues that would bring his family to life: online genealogy sites, the Butte Archives, historic newspapers, family stories, pictures, and finally, DNA. The resulting book, Dear Dad, tells the story of that journey to discovery and of the extraordinary, yet troublesome, lives that mark her family lineage.

The presentation will begin at noon and run about an hour at the Archives, 17 W. Quartz. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and water will be provided.

Brown Bag Lunches are held the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. Upcoming lectures will focus on topics of local interest. For more information, contact the Archives at 782-3280.
